Botanical inventories come in many forms. The most basic inventory of schoolyard flora consists of a simple list of species identified on the school's campus. A more complex, and more useful, inventory includes photodocumentation of each species. The ideal inventory will include student-prepared dried, pressed, labeled specimens of each species identified on the school campus. These specimens may be housed in a classroom or school herbarium, or deposited in one of South Carolina's institutional research herbaria. More information about preparing herbarium specimens is available at the A. C. Moore Herbarium or on our How To page.
